Historical view

1- At 1952 The General Directorate of Health was created as          one of the formations of the Ministry of Health, where the           ministry of health at that time consistedof  -:
     A- General Directorate of Health Prevention
     B. Directorate of Health affairs
The GDP was responsible for follow-up of all preventive health  services and then included the health environment issues, to be called (the Directorate of  preventive Health and Environmental improvement and Protection)
2- After 1997,a separate Directorate of Protection and                improvement of Environment was established in the Ministry       of Health.
Leaving the Directorate of preventive Health as a separate entity in the Ministry of Health
3- After 2003 The name of the Directorate has been changed         to become the Directorate of public health and primary              health care.
